Dave Zatz points out an email sent to Roku developers today that mentions "t<span>he new user interface introduced with the Roku 3 will be coming to Roku 2, Roku LT and <a href="http://greenzoneregypt.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Roku HD</a> (model 2500) by the end of May." That could add a few extra weeks to the wait for current owners, but there may be a silver lining. The email goes on to mention that it expects channels to run the same, if not better (besides looking better) after the upgrade. The good news is that Dev units have been shipping to the roughly 600 who signed up, with the remaining ones set to head out within a week. The bad news? The early-backer versions are now set to arrive at doorsteps in late June instead of April because of high-demand, according to PlayJam. As its latest Kickstarter update details, the units will need stronger tooling than the silicon-based molds of the dev units to ensure that "tens of thousands" of them can be successfully made. Additionally, this will apparently force the company to ship these larger factory yields via sea transport rather than air, which also slows things down.<br /> A case of success causing slowdowns it seems. Hopefully not much longer than these new estimates, too -- while this breakout underdog is set to hit retailers like GameStop, that other Android-based console, OUYA, is already shipping out to backers -- and its retail units are planned in June. Back when it was first announced, the company indicated it'd be available by April, but it would seem that plan has changed: the product page on HP's site is now saying the Slate won't arrive until sometime in June. We're not sure why there's a delay (we're asking for comment), but we do know this can't be good news for HP. By June, after all, Google I/O will have come and gone, and the next-gen Nexus 7 might already be on sale.</div></div>

According to a statement in the <em>Wall Street Journal</em>, an HTC executive has acknowledged that a reduced shipment forecast prompted certain suppliers to downgrade the company's status, saying "HTC has had difficulty in securing adequate camera components as it is no longer a tier-one customer." That component, along with metal casings, is being blamed for the HTC One's shipment delays -- the device may still reach pre-order customers this month, but many markets won't see the flagship smartphone until April. The company has a lot riding on this very well-received device, but with Samsung's unrivaled marketing spend and these latest supply issues, glowing reviews alone won't carry the One to success.</div></div>

A company rep has corroborated those reports, stating that all global shipments, save for those from O2 in Germany, have been pushed back until an unspecified time in April. Fortunately, there is a slight silver lining, as those wise enough to have pre-ordered the One should start to see their units arrive by the end of this month -- though it's not a guarantee. As for the cause of this setback, no specific reason was given, but it's likely HTC's dealing with some manufacturing issues. We'll update you should we hear more on the official cause soon. Reports: Apple's internet radio service delayed by slow-going music licensing negotiations

The reason is because of snails-pace negotiations with the publisher Sony/ATV for music licensing deals. As the <em>Times </em>notes, Sony no longer lets outsiders like ASCAP dole out licenses, leaving itself as chief point of contact for such agreements on its content -- this apparently got Pandora locked into a twenty five-percent increase on royalty payments to Sony. Prior to today's reports, <em>Bloomberg</em> stated that Cupertino was aiming for a Q1 release for this year, and the <em>NYT </em>notes Apple hoped that launch would've happened near the Grammy Awards. If you'll recall, Apple's service is said be direct competition to others like Pandora rather than Spotify, as it would be ad-supported for revenue.
